10月のテーマは、さまざまな応答・知識

👉今年度は…
「感謝したい」「頼み事をしたい」といった、
発言のタイプ別おすすめ表現を多数学びます。
などへとゆっくり進めていきます。

◎10月は
▶︎「発言タイプ」ー【さまざまな応答・知識】を勉強します。
「応答」は相手の発言に対するスタンダードな受け答えです。
「知識」はさまざまな「知っているよ」の伝え方。どちらもとっても重要な発言タイプです。

👉知識④ 表現するのが難しい知識
▶︎相手を傷つけないように、好意的な申し出を辞退する表現です。

会話の場面

登場人物

・俳句が趣味のエモリ (Emori) とシンディ (Cindy)

状況

・エモリさんとシンディが次の俳句旅行を北海道にしようとしていますが …

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ This is Akino Roza.

David
▶︎ Oh, you mean Wakkanai, Hokkaido? Wum,,, I love there!
Let’s go! I’m David Evans.

Dialogue で

① Where in Hokkaido?【場所を更に詳しく聞く便利な表現】
👉 この言い方ですね。とっても便利です。 Where? だけでなく、
Where in Hokkaido? 「北海道のどこ？」という聞き方ですね。この言い方を
覚えておきましょう。

② Very funny. 【皮肉のニュアンスもある表現】
👉 Very funny. という表現が出てきました。「なかなか面白い」という表現です
けれども、「あまり面白くない」表現に対して、皮肉で Very funny. と答えることも
頻繁にあります。

③ They sound similar to me. 【説明型オーバーラッピングの形】
👉さあ、They sound similar というフレーズが出てきましたね、もちろん説明型
オーバーラッピングの形です。基本は、They ＝ similar「彼らは同じようだ」というわけ
ですね。そして、文全体に sound の意味がかかって、「それは同じように聞こえる」
という意味を構成しています。

④ That works out well, then. 【 work out well の意味】
👉さあ、ここで works out well というフレーズが出てきました。
work out well – これは「物事がうまく行く」という言い回しです。
まとめて覚えておきましょう。

▶︎ OK, everyone. It’s time for today’s practice.

▶︎ For today’s practice sentences, I want you guys to pay attention to which
sentences are used for which scenarios, OK?

David
▶︎ All right. Our first sentences use “can” and “can’t” just like we did previously.
So listen to how I use them and practice the sounds together with me.
・My boss can be stubborn at times.
All right. Now let’s try “can’t.”
・That can’t be right.

Roza
▶︎ OK. Let’s continue.
・Humans are social animals.
・Time is money.
・Beavers build dams.
・One plus two is three.
・I jog every morning.

▶︎ All right. And let’s try a few here at the end.
・Accidents will happen.
・Problems will arise.
・My sister will talk for hours.
・My dad would take us fishing.
