4月のテーマは基本動詞①
👉今年度は…
会話で頻用される表現のイメージをつかみ、
「日本語を経由せず、英語を使う」力を養います。
・基本動詞
・前置詞
・形容詞
などへとゆっくり進めていきます。
◎基本動詞とは
▶︎日常頻繁に使われる動詞のこと
– こうした動詞は極端に単純な意味を持つため、無数の状況と日本語訳に
対応します。
そのため基本動詞の学習は、
| シンプルなイメージ(中核となる意味・ニュアンス)をつかみ、それがどういった 状況に使われるのかをつぶさに理解し頭に入れることが必要 |

👉 have のイメージは「周りにある」- 位置を表す、動きのない静的なイメージ

Opening で
Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.
Oh, no! It’s started to rain.
Chris
▶︎ Do you have an umbrella?
Roza
▶︎ No.
Chris
▶︎ Ah 〜, well, Chris McVay here. Chris McVay The Gentleman!
Listen! I’m not having you walk home alone in this rain.
Roza
▶︎ Oh, you are such a gentleman!
Dialogue で
① I think I should go home now, Doug.
👉 go home というフレーズが出てきました。
home というのは、here, there の仲間の使い方があるわけです。
ですから、前置詞抜きで go home ということができるんですね。
② Here, why don’t you come under my umbrella?
👉ここでは、why don’t you 〜? 「〜しませんか」という意味ですね。
軽い提案を表すフレーズです。しっかり覚えましょう。
③ That’s why I like you so much.
👉よく使われるフレーズが出てきました。
原因と結果を示して「だから〜なのだ」という形です。
④ The feeling is mutual.
👉 mutual というのは「お互いさま」という形容詞なんですけれども、
これはですね、是非全文を覚えてください。
▶︎相手が好意的なことを言ってくれたわけですね。そして、みなさんも同じ気持ちで
いる – そうしたことを言うのは日常よくあるんですね。ですから、私もしばしば
この The feeling is mutual. – 使います。これを知っていると、便利に切り抜けられる
状況がたくさんありますから、しっかり覚えておきましょう。
⑤ …will you marry me?
👉ここで marry me という形が出てきました。
しっかりと、marry with me でないことを確認しましょう。
marry というのは、基本的に相手を get するということなんですね。
だから、他動型で使う動詞です – marry me です。
Practice

▶︎ OK, guys. It’s “Practice Time.”
And it’s the last practice with “have.”
We’ve always looked at the rhythm.
One, two, three. Verb, object, complement, which is exactly the same
for “have” and “make.”
Let’s look at the difference today.
“Make someone do something” implies forcing someone to do it
against their will. But with “have,” there’s no force at all.
The situation happens naturally, automatically. Typical situations
could be “a boss and an assistant,” or “a coach and the team players.”
OK? So let’s practice that. Are you ready?

▶︎ OK! Here’s another one.
・The coach had the players do warm-up exercises.
So we’ve got the rhythm – pong, pong, pong.
Had. the players, do warm-up exercises.
But again, no force included here. And it’s a natural situation.
・The coach had the players do warm-up exercises.

・have the shop staff gift-wrap the chocolates
One last time.
