２月のテーマは受動態・比較
👉２月号のテーマは「受動態・比較」。
– 今まで学んだ配置の知識を使って表現の場を広げていきます。

▶︎ I think about 5 minutes, actually.

Dialogue で
① My goodness, Wayne!
👉これは、My “God” と言う単語を出さないために、
似た単語を使って、My “goodness” と言っているわけです。
② How many years has it been?
👉 how many years という大きな wh語を使って、後ろに疑問形を
続ける – この基本的な形に慣れましょう。
③ It must be about 25 years.
👉ここの must は「〜に違いない」という意味を表す助動詞です。
④ A full grand piano wouldn’t fit 〜.
👉この wouldn’t は「フルグランドピアノなら〜でしょうね」という
現実感のない話をしているわけです。条件節が織り込まれている感触の
wouldn’t – しっかりと覚えておきましょう。
⑤ (wouldn’t) fit into my house
👉 fit はピッタリ。「家にはピッタリと収まらない」というわけです。

▶︎ inspirational「心を動かす」「感動させる」あるいは「動機を与える」
– なかなか使い方が難しい単語でしたが、この単語は inspire という
動詞から来ているんですね。inspire の意味が分かれば、inspirational も
分かるかなと思います。
– What does “inspire” mean exactly?
Roza
▶︎ Well, the image of “inspire” is like “Huh ー, oh, how wonderful!”
or “Oh, that’s a good idea.” So it gives you some kind of idea,
some inspiration.
Onishi
▶︎ inspire という動詞は「息を吹き込む」ということなんです。
何かに「ブー」と息を吹き込む。ろーざさんの今のアクションは、
「ハー」と息を吹き込まれている、inspire されている – そうした
状況を表しているわけです。
– Hey, Chris. What inspires you most?

▶︎ Well, you know what? Roza’s explanation with sound effect
“Ah …..” really inspired me today.

▶︎ Yeah, that was quite inspirational, wasn’t it?
