👉1月は、限定詞・名詞関連・接続詞のイメージについて学習します。
今週からは、「名詞関連」です。

Lesson 188 it を説明するリズム

👉 it の特徴的なリズム▶︎「it で文を始め、その説明を後ろに置く」

Opening で

▶︎ Chris McVay here. I’m still dreaming of the Indian curry
I had last night. I don’t know if it’s connected to ♪pa pa pa, ba ba ba ♬.

Dialogue で

① Hi, it‘s you!
👉この it ですね。その場の状況を受ける it です。
「そこで、何か食事をとっているのは」まあ、そうしたニュアンスで、
it が使われています。

② You really like Indian food, don’t you?
👉そして、don’t you? という付加疑問文も出てきました。
元の文が You really like 〜 – 一般動詞を使った形なので、ここでは
do を使って don’t you? となっているわけですね。
▶︎肯定、否定を入れ替える、それが大切でした。

③ Yes, I like your curries in particular.
👉 in particular「特に」というフレーズ。しっかりと覚えてくださいね。
日常会話の範囲にありますよ。

④ I wonder why.
👉さあ、I wonder why. という決まり文句が出てきましたね。
「どうしてなのか、不思議に思う」というフレーズ。
▶︎ wonder という動詞は、大きなクエスチョンマークが頭の上に浮かんでいる、
そうしたイメージをもつ動詞です。

⑤ Not very good.
👉さあ、ここでは not very good – not と強い単語 very が使われ、
部分否定が行われています。「それ程よくはない」というわけですね。

⑥ I can find vacant properties in the city.
👉さあ、ここでは vacant という単語が出てきました。
「からの、空室の」というわけですね。
👉そして、property – これは「誰かが所有するもの、所有物」のことを
表します。ここでは「物件」ですね。

Today we’re focusing on “it.” Now the main thing here is to catch the rhythm,
because “it” is always followed by something which explains “it.”
Catch that rhythm, and away we go!

So “it” followed by explanation.
