Opening で

▶︎ Hey, guys. This is Akino Roza. Let’s get started.

Chris
▶︎OK, guys. Chris McVay here. I’m dying for some rich chocolate cake,
so let’s hurry and finish this lesson, OK?

Dialogue で

① I’m happy you enjoyed it.
👉 I’m happy you enjoyed it. という文が出てきましたね。
この文の形にご注意ください。この文は、I’m happy の後ろに節がポンと置かれて
I’m happy の理由の説明が行われています。説明は後ろに置く – そのままの形
ですね。「あなたがそれを楽しんでくれて – 私はうれしい」といった文と
なっています。

② You must go.
👉さあ、must というのは「〜しなければならない」- 非常に高いプレッシャー
が感じられる助動詞ですが、この使い方は非常に行為的に響きます。
何かおすすめのこと、おすすめの行為に相手を駆り立てている – そうした
ところが、あたたかさとつながっているんです。

③ Absolutely.
👉さあ、Absolutely. 100% の同意を表す表現です。
しっかりと覚えておきましょう。

④ I‘d appreciate that.
👉さあ、ここの I’d appreciate that. この文、ご注意くださいね。
ただ単に「ありがとう」と言う時には、I appreciate that. です。
でもここでは、I’d となっていますよね – would が入っているわけです。
これは、「もうそうしていただけ他なら、感謝しますよ」ということ
つまり「そうしていただけたら、ありがとう」と事前の感謝をする表現
なんです。

“at any time.” So it contains the nuance of freedom of choice, which normally
leads to combinations like whatever, whenever, whoever, however, OK?
