👉9月も引き続き、前置詞の学習です。

👉 across のイメージ▶︎「横切る」- cross を作るように、ということ

Opening

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.

Chris
▶︎ I feel cold all of a sudden in this studio.
Well, anyway, Chris McVay here. And by the way, I love つけ麺.

Dialogue で

① I came across a review of this restaurant with your name and photo.
👉さあ、a review of this restaurant に with your name and photo というのが
ついていますね。場所的なつながりを表す with -「名前と写真付きのレビュー」
というわけです。

② So, what do you recommend?
👉そして、what do you recommend?
この文は、もう全部覚えてみてくださいね。「何をおすすめですか」反射的に
出てこないといけない文です。

③ Exactly.
👉さあ、ここの exactly という表現ですね。Yes. と言ってもいいわけです。
たまには思い切って、Exactly. とおっしゃってみてください。とっても
英語らしくて、気に入ると思いますよ。

④ OK, I’ll have the works.
👉さあ、ここの「〜にします」- レストランなどで使う表現。
これが I’ll have 〜. これもまとめて覚えてみてくださいね。
非常に良く使われる表現です。
▶︎そして、the works。これは「全ての具を入れたセット」という
わけですね、

⑤ I’ll be back in a few minutes.
👉さあ、I’ll be back という未来を表す – そのフレーズの後ろで
in a few minutes – in が出てきましたね。もちろん「〜以内」という意味
ではなく、「数分後に」という時点を表す表現となっています。
ご注意ください、この in。

Today we’re looking at “across.”
The basic image is “a cross,” and from there we get the idea
of “from one side to another.” OK?
So with that in mind, let’s begin!

▶︎ And remember to think in English.

▶︎ Here we go!
・They swam across the river.
So you can get the picture of this side of river?
Swim, swim, swim, and you get to the other side. You go across the river.
So once more.
・They swam across the river.
・There’s an excellent cafe across the street.

▶︎ Continuing on!
・I hitchhiked across Australia.
So you can imagine I hitchhiked from one side to the other of Australia.
Next example.

One more time.
