引き続き基本動詞のイメージをつかみ
「日本語を経由せず、英語を使う力」を養います。

Lesson 2４ take の「かかる・必要とする」

👉 take のイメージは「手に取る」- 目の前にあるものを意識的に・能動的に「取る」
※ Lesson 21から take を扱っています。

▶︎ Nice one, Chris.

Dialogue で

① It was worth it.
👉 worth – これは「〜の価値がある」「高いだけの価値がある」
というニュアンスで使われていました。

② Deena, how about walking to Shibuya?
👉 How about＋動詞 ing形〜？の形で提案を表します。

③ We don’t need to take the train.
👉 take the train – これはもう、みなさん、まとめて一語として
頭に入っていますよね。どんどん英会話が楽になっていませんか。

④ After that big lunch, 〜
👉さあ、ここの big lunch というフレーズ。しっかりと覚えておきましょうね。
たくさん食べる – 量の問題となっているわけです。
なかなか学習者には使いづらい形だと思うので、しっかりと口慣らしを
お願いします。

⑤ I feel like walking.
👉 feel like 〜「〜したいと思う」というフレーズ。
後ろは動詞 ing形ですよ。feel like walking

⑥ How long does it take to walk there?
👉 how long – 時間の長さを聞く whフレーズです。

And I hope you will notice the logical flow up to now.
One, the basic image：stretch out.
Two, why stretch out? To get something, to accept something.
And today’s focus – Why get something in order to use it, of course?
So let’s focus on that “in order to use it, of course.”
That’s the sort of image while we practice.

And the same way of thinking for this one.
・take advantage of
Try that one!

▶︎ And in the next examples, you can really feel the nuance
of the verb “use.”
・take time / take money / take courage / take an expert
Do you feel the use “verb”?

・How long does it take to walk there?
So you need time, you take the time whatever time necessary to walk there.
One more time.
・How long does it take to walk there?

▶︎ And another example of time.
・It took me two hours to finish this report.
So you used up the two hours, right?
